Buenos Aires Real Estate - Español
Nuñez was founded by Florencio Emeterio Nuñez, along with another of Buenos Aires' neighborhoods; Saavedra. Nuñez bought the lands and then donated terrain to the railroad so that they could build a train station there. Because of his generosity and developmental spirit, the train company named the station Nuñez in his honor.
It is located in highlands, with hills sloping down into the river. With the exception of the bigger avenues, it is a quiet area. It has always been a region full of streams as it remains to this thay, although some of them have been redirected unter the streets in pipes, having the water go directly to the "Río de La Plata" (Silver River).
Much like Saavedra and Belgrano, it has always been an area identified by its big old houses, many of which today have had to give way for the newer PH (Town House) style, that is currently very popular, or torn down for newer constructions. Nuñez has a lot of large buildings with apartments and a lot of commercial activity, especially on the Cabildo and Libertador Avenues. The area is currently going through a haitational overpopuation since it is very attractive to real estate investors.
There are two main parks; Plaza Balcarce and Plaza Félix Lima. Between the Libertador Avenue and the river, there are large open aired areas, where there are sports clubs and this is also where you can find the famous Estadio Monumental (Monumental Stadium). Throughout the rest of the neighborhood you can also find smaller green areas scattered.
The 27th of April is the day of Nuñez.
